Based in London, United Kingdom

I grew up in Portugal by the beach, however I live in London now so my visual landscape has significantly changed. I use photography as a way of working and reflecting on themes of fluidity and connection to my different ideas of home and change. Photographing mainly on film, I often capture unique moments of unity and intimacy with my family when I visit them in Portugal. For me, it has been very interesting to keep and create my own family archive, as a way of looking at the different aspects of growing up, compared to my three younger siblings who still live in Portugal. I encounter similar feelings of connections to people and places here in London and that relationship between two homes is really the essence of my most special work. I aim to create art that relates to everyone, that can be approached in different ways by different people, that are able to connect to it in their own way. Additionally, I incorporate music, poetry and other literary genres to further build on the deeper meanings of connection. Images that reflect on memory, observation and emotion are the main focus of passion for capturing moments in time. Overall, themes of love, contemplation and understanding our deeper connections to the places we call home are the core of many of my ongoing projects.
